Sunbio Corporation Introduces PCE-PRO™, a Clinically Studied Purple Corn Anthocyanin Extract for the U.S. Nutraceutical Market
Standardized Korean purple corn ingredient is backed by completed human clinical trials in prostate and eye health and a comprehensive nonclinical safety program
Yorba Linda, CA — August 13, 2026 — Sunbio Corporation, a nutraceutical ingredient company founded in 2005, today announced the U.S. market introduction of PCE-PRO™, a standardized purple corn anthocyanin extract developed by Medience Co., Ltd. in South Korea. Sunbio is the exclusive U.S. distributor for the ingredient.
PCE-PRO is derived primarily from the anthocyanin-rich husk and cob of a purpose-bred, officially registered non-GMO Korean corn variety (Zea mays L.), cultivated in Gangwon Province. Unlike commodity purple corn extracts sourced from the kernel, PCE-PRO's husk-and-cob sourcing yields meaningfully higher anthocyanin content and is standardized to a guaranteed minimum of ≥12 mg/g C3G (cyanidin-3-O-glucoside) and ≥13% total anthocyanins per batch.
PCE-PRO has completed randomized, placebo-controlled human clinical trials in two health categories: prostate health and eye health. Both studies evaluated 500 mg/day over 12 weeks.
Additional clinical details for each health category will be released in upcoming announcements.
PCE-PRO is supported by a comprehensive nonclinical safety program conducted under GLP conditions in accordance with OECD test guidelines, including a three-study genotoxicity battery and acute, dose-escalating, and 90-day repeated-dose oral toxicity studies. No genotoxic signal was observed across the test battery, and no toxicologically adverse treatment-related changes were identified in the 90-day study at the highest dose tested. The ingredient is manufactured at a KGMP-certified, ISO 22000-certified, U.S. FDA-registered facility in South Korea.
"What sets PCE-PRO apart is the depth of the development program behind it," said Thomas Chang, CEO of Sunbio Corporation. "It combines a purpose-bred purple corn source, defined anthocyanin standardization, and completed human clinical studies in two distinct health categories. For formulators, that creates a much stronger scientific foundation for product development."
PCE-PRO is available for formulation in capsule, tablet, softgel, gummy, and RTD beverage formats. Formulators can request samples, technical specifications, and clinical documentation by contacting Sunbio Corporation.
Founded in 2005, Sunbio Corporation is a B2B nutraceutical company that identifies, tests, and brings science-backed natural ingredients to the North American and Asian markets. Sunbio is the exclusive U.S. distributor for PCE-PRO.
